It is with joy and enthusiasm that I join the world of Blogging. I have been reading many, many blogs to see just what people do in this space, and find that virtually every topic under the sun is represented. Me? I am an intuitive teacher, a consultant to individuals and to businesses, looking to move forward when life or “things” seem to be holding them in place or pushing them backward.
Lately, many people are coming to me to find out what is keeping them from economic success. Some have been working at their job for a long time, and they are not happy with the job or the pay. Some are looking for a job doing what they are passionate about. Some just want any job that will pay the bills. Then there are the companies that are hurting due to this sluggish economy. They are laying people off, downsizing, cutting expenses on perks for their employees and struggling to stay afloat in this quagmire of our society.
Grace and ease aren’t part of many vocabularies these days. How is someone supposed to find grace when everything and everyone seems to be hanging by a thread?
Where is the grace in your life? In your business? Do you find yourself constantly being held to task or in reaction to everything that is going on around you? In the world at large, there is always something going on, and we each have to manage what we must do, what we would like to do and what we could do.
We must decide what to do amidst the constant clamoring noise and demands placed upon us by what I affectionately call “Your Usual Suspects”. Multi-tasking isn’t all it was once cracked up to be. We lose the ability to concentrate for any length of time on a single task with all the demands that want us to do too many things all at the same time.
That is where sitting down and making separations from everything and everyone regularly can help sort things out. Giving yourself this time can help you to see what is you and what is not.
There are many methods of getting in touch with yourself and where you are in the present moment. For starters, just sitting in a comfortable chair; feet flat on the floor, eyes closed, noticing your breath and saying hello to your body is a good way to begin. Allow yourself to sit quietly undisturbed for as long as you feel comfortable. Some days will be easier than others. You will become more familiar with what truly is you and “Your Usual Suspects”. You may even find grace in your life.

This is terrific advice, and I like the idea of ditching multi-tasking and instead concentrating on the present. Shutting out the usual suspects (I like that!) for at least some of the day and doing or thinking ONE thing is a very appealing idea!

That’s nicely written and meaningful, Janet. I used to urge kids in public schools to sit quietly until they could here their own hearts beat. Of course, they usually laughed and said you can’t do that. But some got it.

Well finally!!! I’m so happy you are doing this. So many bloggers have absolutly nothing to say or offer. Now, all the “big” companies are using business intuitives (see Newsweek article the last week of June 08 ) and now we smaller Chicago companies have you!!! Let me be the first testimonial on your blog.
I absolutely recommend your business services. I think I’m still in business because of your insight. It’s such an asset to have other “eyes” to help me with problems that I really can’t talk to anyone about – or maybe another business owner. Owning and operating a business has been tough at times and I consider you to be my business shrink. I”m ahead of the pack because I don’t have to do it alone any longer. If they can do it in New York, we can do it here in the Second City. Congratulations – I’m going to be looking forward to these articles.

Thanks so much for the reminder, Janet. We always forget in this hustle bustle world to slow down. I’m trying to do fewer tasks well, than more tasks mediocre. Enjoy the moment, you won’t get it back.
